Based on a typical three-night stay
Day 1
Depart Port Hardy, British Columbia by seaplane. Experience breathtaking central coast scenery. Travel over rich Queen Charlotte Strait waters; home of gray, humpback and killer whales. Once at the lodge, your hosts welcome you from the dock. Settle into your private room at the lodge. Early supper, then begin your grizzly bear adventure. During the evening, our biologists explain the interaction of the grizzly bear with this unique ecology.
Day 2
Early rise, equipped with hot beverages and fresh baking, begin tracking down grizzly bears.Typical viewing session lasts three hours. Back at the Lodge, brunch served during late morning. Early afternoon explore surrounding area with guide. Options include interpretive rainforest walk, examine bear sign and the general ecology of the area. Mid-afternoon venture out to seek the bears before relaxing in the lodge for dinner. Meals include fresh wild salmon roasted on an alder plank with mustard-maple marinade. On clear nights the stars are amazing.
Days 3 - 6* (* -if applicable)
Continue daily pattern. Bears are generally most active in the early morning and late afternoon, which is why we focus our viewing sessions on these times. Afternoon activities include a guided sea-kayak tour of the estuary, boat cruise to explore the glacier-carved inlet or simply relax and enjoy the view from the lodge.
Departure Day
After your parting session with the bears and lunch, you will be returned to Port Hardy in the afternoon.
For longer stays, we explore different areas of the inlet in between the morning to and afternoon wildlife viewing sessions. The exact times of the wildlife-viewing sessions are dependent upon light levels (i.e. sunrise and sunset), tides (spring viewing), and bear activity. Timing of meals and other activities are scheduled so that we can optimize the wildlife viewing opportunities on that day. We have limited the capacity of the lodge to 10 guests, ensuring a personalized experience.
