Hayley Shephard

Interpretive Guide

Born and raised in New Zealand and now residing on the northern regions of Vancouver Island, Hayley has spent her entire life surrounded by the sea. Her profession as a teacher extended gradually into the wilderness and as a guide and naturalist. Beyond her short polar bear season in Churchill, Hayley spends her winters in the far south on the frozen coastal edge of the Antarctic continent. Her summers include piloting vessels in the remote, northern inlets of the Pacific Northwest where she leads excursions in grizzly and black bear habitat. For fun, Hayley takes off on extended kayak excursions around Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands. Her next adventure is an attempt at solo sea kayaking around the storm torn Sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia for the Plight of the Albatross.For more details on this epic expedition please visit:
