Drastic Measures for Polar Bears on Global National News

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

This news story aired yesterday evening on Global National which illustrates that the late start to winter may be forcing Manitoba’s polar bears to desperate measures to survive. The image below shows that of all Andy Derocher’s 15 collared female polar bears, only one so far is on the ice. The rest are still on land (three not shown). One note: the polar bears are waiting for the ice to freeze at Hudson Bay, not Hudson’s Bay as stated in the news story.

RRC Distinguished Alumni Video

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Back in June, we blogged about FNA’s own Merv Gunter winning the Distinguished Alumni Award from Red River College. The award honours graduates of the College who have distinguished themselves in both their chosen profession and the community.

Here is a fantastic video that Red River College created to honour Merv. The video was presented at a dinner held in November.

FNA in the Collegeville Way Paper

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

The Collegeville Way newspaper allows their readers the opportunity to be featured in their publication if they submit images of themselves reading the paper in unique destinations. Two of our Polar Bears in Churchill guests this past October decided to take a photo of themselves with the Collegeville Way on the observation deck of one of our Tundra Buggies with a bear in the background. Turns out they made the paper!
