This news story aired yesterday evening on Global National which illustrates that the late start to winter may be forcing Manitoba’s polar bears to desperate measures to survive. The image below shows that of all Andy Derocher’s 15 collared female polar bears, only one so far is on the ice. The rest are still on land (three not shown). One note: the polar bears are waiting for the ice to freeze at Hudson Bay, not Hudson’s Bay as stated in the news story.
