Summer in Churchill

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Most people know Churchill for its amazing polar bear viewing and Tundra Buggy adventures in October and November. But what a lot of people don’t know is that in July and August not only are there 3,000 beluga whales in the Churchill River, but there is still an opportunity to see polar bears on our summer Tundra Buggy adventures – just not in the numbers that you would see in autumn. Pair all this with witnessing brilliant colours of flora on the tundra, unique birding and wildlife viewing, Churchill is a very inspiring place to be in the summer months.

Take a look at some images that our summer Tundra Buggy Driver and Tundra Buggy Lodge Maintenance guru, Dave Allcorn, took during his summer months in Churchill in 2009:

Photo Specialist Adventure

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

One of our highlights after “Polar Bear Season” is receiving images and video that our guests captured on our Polar Bears in Churchill Adventures.  We were very happy to hear from Diana Davidson, a guest on our Photo Specialist level Tundra Buggy Lodge Adventure led by professional photographer Richard Day, who was nice enough to share with us two fun photos of her group in front of a Tundra Buggy. Look at all the camera gear! That’s some serious photography.

FYI – 2010 Polar Bears Season is only 220 days away!

Google Street View Tundra Buggy?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Google is a proven leader of developing unique applications for the web. It recently came out with a new version of its popular Google Maps Street View application, entitled Street View snowmobile just in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Similar to its original Street View where Google uses trucks to take a series of images along streets in various cities, Street View snowmobile uses (you guessed it) snowmobiles to explore and capture images of the amazing scenery of ski slopes and trails.

This newest application has us here asking one question: How cool would it be to have Google Street view: Tundra Buggy?

Have a good weekend!

Travel Manitoba

We have a great relationship with Travel Manitoba, a Destination Marketing Organization that promotes Manitoba as an awesome place to vacation. We found a great video they posted on their YouTube channel of 3 excited tourists on one of our Tundra Buggy adventures. They also were able to participate in a dogsledding adventure.

TODAY Show on the Tundra Buggy Lodge

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

We love hosting media on all of our adventures. A few years ago, we hosted Al Roker from NBC’s TODAY show in Churchill to do a segment on our Tundra Buggy Adventure. He even stayed overnight at our Tundra Buggy Lodge.
