Search Tips

Terms
You can search for single word terms such as bear or whale. Chain these terms together to refine your search.

Phrases
You can also search for a specific phrase by surrounding the phrase in quotes, such as "polar bear" or "whale watching".

Fields
By default the site will search over all of the content on all of the pages. Sometimes you might want to limit your search to specific content. Specifying a field is easy, simply prefix your term with the field name and a colon: Title:conservation. The search will recognize the following case-sensitive field names:

  • Title
  • Summary
  • Decription
  • Code
  • DateFrom
  • DateTo
  • ImageCaption
  • ImageKeywords

Wildcards
Using a wildcard can help you when you do not know the specific name of something you are looking for. You can specify a multi-character wildcard with "*" and a single character wildcard with "?". For example: pol* would match "polar" as well as "police".
